02/08/2012 With the recently launched Danish edition MOTORRAD is now available in 16 countries internationally being Europe’s largest motorcycling magazine. Motor Presse Stuttgart has granted the next Scandinavian license to its cooperation partner Motorrad Sverige AB. MOTORRAD Denmark is the third Scandinavian edition after the successful launch of MOTORRAD in Sweden and Finland (under license with Motorrad Sverige AB as well).

The copy price of MOTORRAD Denmark is DKK 79,- (ca. 10.6 €) and in addition to the print magazine there is a presence on and in relevant social media networks.


Motor Presse Stuttgart has granted a licence for a Finnish edition of its title MOTORRAD

13/06/2012 Stuttgart/Solna/Nurmijärvi, 26 April 2012 – Motor Presse Stuttgart has granted a licence for a Finnish edition of its title MOTORRAD, Europe’s largest motorcycle magazine.

After successfully having tested the title in the Finnish market with two issues in 2011, both publisher Gerry Nordström, CEO of Motorrad Sverige AB in Sweden, and the licensing unit of Motor Presse International have decided to further deepen their cooperation. As publishing partner in Finland, Gerry Nordström was able to win over Ride Media OY with CEO Jukka Helminen and Editor-in-Chief Sami Salonen, both highly experienced editors as well as respected and well-known personalities in Finnish motorcycle sports.

Gerry Nordström and Ride Media OY will start off with a publication of 10 issues of MOTORRAD Finland in 2012. It is going to be available at a copy price of € 8.90, complemented by the website and a presence in relevant social media networks. MOTORRAD Finland has been presented at the MP Helsinki Motorcycle Show with remarkable response of its future readers.

A new addition to the international GEO family: GEO EPOCHE launches in the Czech Republic

02/11/2011 GEO EPOCHE, Germany’s market-leading single-topic history magazine and part of the GEO family, will hit the newsstands in the Czech Republic for the first time on November 2, 2011. The title will be published as a licensed edition by Ringier/Axel Springer, which also publishes the Czech edition of the reportage magazine GEO.

GEO EPOCHE will be launched onto the Czech market at a price equivalent to approximately four Euro and with an initial print run of 10,000. An advertising campaign in print and online media and on TV will accompany the launch. A decision on publishing frequency will be taken once initial information on sales is available.

“The first issue, which focuses on the topic of the Soviet Union under the rule of Josef Stalin, is a test to see whether the idea of a single-topic history magazine is exportable to other markets”, says Michael Schaper, editor-in-chief of the German edition of GEO EPOCHE. “We can’t wait to find out how Czech readers respond to our concept.”

The edition was translated and adapted to the local audience by the Czech GEO editorial team on the basis of the German content. The publication’s editor-in-chief is Dr. Zdeněk Vacek, who also edits the Czech edition of the reportage magazine GEO.

G+J launches QUEST magazine in South Africa

29/08/2011 This week, Gruner + Jahr is due to launch an English-language edition of Dutch magazine QUEST in South Africa. The publishing partner in the country is Panorama Publications, which produces a total of 17 magazines in the areas of consumer and corporate publishing.

The launch of the South African edition means that the international popular science family of Gruner + Jahr will now be published in a total of 14 countries across the globe. The family includes the established brands QUEST, P.M., MUY INTERESANTE, FOCUS and CA M’INTERESSE, and most titles hold market- leading positions in their segments. Launched in the Netherlands in 2004 by Gruner + Jahr Uitgevers, QUEST enjoyed an extremely successful start and has repeatedly been awarded "Magazine of the Year" from the Dutch association of publishers. With sales of 200,000 copies per issue, QUEST is the biggest-selling monthly title in the Netherlands today.

The South African edition of QUEST will be published in English under the name of QUEST BRAINTAINMENT at an initial price per copy of EUR 2.50, rising to EUR 3.00 as regular price. It will initially be
published bimonthly. An extensive print, TV and radio campaign and numerous promotional measures will accompany the launch. Gruner + Jahr: Significantly improved market performance and lasting structural improvements yield outstanding results in first half of 2010

1/9/2010 As expected, Gruner + Jahr’s consolidated revenues stabilized in the first half of 2010, precisely on par with the previous year at €1,217 million. The good performance of the second half of 2009 was maintained in 2010. Gruner + Jahr significantly improved its first-half earnings vs. the previous year, as well as compared to the pre-crisis results of H’1/2008. Earnings before interest and taxes, adjusted for special items (operating EBIT) came to €130 million after €55 million in 2009 and €117 million in H’1/2008.

G+J International launches GEO iPad application

7/7/2010 The reportage magazine GEO is launching a GEO iPad selection based on its English-language edition – a monthly selection of three reports from the current international print magazine in a multimedia format for the Apple iPad. The first issue will appear in early July and is priced at 2.49 EUR in the AppStore. The application was developed by G+J International Brands and Licenses in cooperation with the software vendor Mobilinga GmbH of Bremen.

GALA continues Internationalization, begins in Kuwait
